This site is aimed at solving the housing crisis via better market-rate solutions rather than asking for charity for poor people.
I've done substantial research and historically we simply had a lot more small spaces for rent than we have today. Since the end of World War II, we have torn down more than a million SROs and by 2000, average square footage for new housing had more than doubled while average household size shrank.
And then we act MYSTIFIED about rising rates of homelessness and like there's nothing we can do to fix the problem. This approach seeks to reduce builder costs and address other systemic issues without undermining quality of life for residents.

Vending machine lunches are a key detail to making this work well and you should promote that business idea while looking for builders because it will take time to create.

I was homeless for a year in my forties before I understood how upper class my mother's expectations were. Her grandmother was probably a low level German noble. They sold the family title long before I was a twinkle in anyone's eye.
I bought a house in my twenties with no money down and negotiated for the seller to cover closing costs. I'm perpetually appalled at the quality of inexpensive housing and I believe there has to be a better way.
If I had capital and connections, I would just do this myself and hope to make a mint. But I don't, so I am hoping someone else will if I just adequately explain myself.

That may not sound like much to you. But writers don't typically make good money, so I'm currently extremely poor. It would make a difference in my life.
The calculations on this site suggest America could readily absorb 10,000 of these projects. 10,000 x $1000 = $10 million dollars.
No, I'm probably not going to get that. But I wouldn't make frowny faces if I got a piddling million dollars, you know?
That's no longer "set for life" but it's more comfortable than I currently am.
