Cold Shelf

I recently learned about cold shelves which were supposedly common before electrical refrigeration. This an idea you can potentially incorporate in the design of the building if you genuinely want passive solar design where electricity is optional.

And that is my vision.

I don't expect anyone to actually get it right. I expect people to read my blog and go "That sounds COOL!" and then completely bastardize the concept into some HVAC-reliant variation on the generally SHITTY housing we currently build because they are prisoners of some Housing Overton Window brain rot, the housing equivalent of car brain.

But I'm trying to not cave to social pressure to go along to get along and agree to kill the seed of this idea before it can even be planted in hopes of getting SOMETHING planted.

Feel free to look elsewhere for shit you can readily monetize and get off my lawn if what you REALLY want is something fresh and exciting and still somehow wholly within the Housing Overton Window because I think it's easier to write marketing brochures for "New housing! Same SHIT!" than for something actually innovative and trying to genuinely account for rising electrical costs and global economic and social instability and global warming and etc.
